AND the Centenary Year of Cub Scouts! Cubs were welcomed back to a Games night to get into it. Rahn 9/2/16 Tue Yabbies / BBQ Binnak Park, Watsonia North Our annual activity, back to where we used to go before last year! We had a BBQ and then tried to catch some yabbies! (Not many this year!) Parents & Siblings were welcome, bringing their own food! Akela / Raksha 16/2/16 Tue Boomerang Test 8 - Fitness How fit are you all? We tested those Cubs out! Raksha 23/2/16 Tue Wide Games We got outside and played some outdoor games in the wide open spaces! No rain, which was good! Chil 24/2/16 Wed Seeonee Meeting of Banyule District Cub Leaders - Banyule District Hall   1/3/16 Tue Boomerang Test 10 - Scientific Discovery Science is fun... so we did all sorts of experiments to see what we could figure out Chil 8/3/16 Tue Animals and Birds We had some fun learning about our Animals and Birds...AND earned a badge! Raksha 15/3/16 Tue Boomerang Test 4 - Outdoor Scouting - Fires and Cooking How often do you get to light fires and cook food on them? Now was the chance - although some of that damper was a bit raw! Rahn 19/3/16 Sat Baloo's Picnic Melbourne Zoo As part of the Cub Scout Centenary Year, we were off to Melbourne Zoo with Cubs from all over Victoria... and the King of Sweden! - 20/3/16 Sun Banyule Festival "Arty Farty Fest" Grand Parade Our Cubs marched in the Grand Parade and then joined up with their families to go to the Festival - 22/3/16 Tue Under the Ocean Time to explore the Sea! Cubs dressed up as anything you'd find in or on the sea and we dived in to see what it's like down there. Akela 25/3/16 - 10/4/16   School Holidays Only a short Term 1 and we're straight into Easter and holidays. Back for Term 2 on Tuesday, 12th of April.   Rosanna Cub Scouts - Term 2, 2016 - Program 12/4/16 Tue Games Night It was time to hit Term 2 - so we got into it with a games night to have some fun Akela 15-17/4/16 Fri -Sun Gold Camp VII! Rowallan Scout Camp, Riddells Creek Older Cubs by invitation - Fun, with cooking, learning how to earn the Grey Wolf, Hiking, trying some Scout stuff and earning the Bushcraft Level 2 Badge - Rosanna joined in with Cubs and Leaders from 7 other Cub Packs from around Victoria for a huge weekend. Akela 19/4/16 Tue Boomerang Test 1 - Health & First Aid If you want to enjoy yourself it helps to stay healthy.... Plus we learned a bit about how to help others who get hurt Chil 25/4/16 Mon Anzac Day On the 101st Anzac Day, we were at Greensborough for the Anzac Day March and Ceremony (NO Dawn Service at Simpson Barracks this year) - 26/4/16 Tue Waterwise Badge - Part 1 Apart from Heritage Badge, we haven't done one of our Special Badges for quite a while. Over 2 nights we dug into being Waterwise, and earned a cool badge! Raksha 27/4/16 Wed Seeonee Meeting of Banyule District Cub Leaders - 3/5/16 Tue Father and Cub Night Dads (or Grandpa, Uncle etc.) were invited along to help us get ready for Mothers Day AND have some fun! Raksha 10/5/16 Tue Boomerang Test 5 - Our Cub Scout Traditions This night is a great part of the Boomerang work, where we look at our Cub traditions - both the Jungle book and the history of Scouting Chil 17/5/16 Tue Heritage Night Greensborough RSL As part of earning the "Their Service, Our Heritage" Badge we visited Greensborough RSL to learn about the service given to Australia by our Service men and women Akela 24/5/16 Tue Waterwise Badge - Part 2 This night was the chance to finish off most of the Waterwise badge! Raksha 25/5/16 Wed Seeonee Meeting of Banyule District Cub Leaders - 28-29/5/16 Sat-Sun First Aid Course Older Cubs were invited along to learn a LOT about First Aid (and maybe saving someone's life), have some fun and earn the First Aid Level 2 Badge. Akela 31/5/16 Tue Rosanna Library Literature L1 & Lester Literate Badges We were off to the Library, to learn and do some stuff on, not one badge, but two! Chil 7/6/16 Tue Trading Night How well do you know your knots? Or maybe some first aid? Cubs traded with their skills and abilities to make the most... Our Scouts came along to help test us out! Raksha 14/6/16 Tue Boomerang Test 2 - Safety How do you stay safe? We learned about that so we can keep on having fun too! Akela 18-19/6/16 Sat-Sun Gang Show, BBQ and Sleepover 75 Rosanna Cubs, Scouts and family members went to Gang Show 2016, followed by a family BBQ with 1st Bendigo Cubs too and then a Rosanna/Bendigo Cubs-only Sleepover at the Hall. HUGE fun! - 21/6/16 Tue Jungle In 1894 Rudyard Kipling published the Jungle Book. In 1916 Baden-Powell started Cub Scouts, basing it his friend's book. 100 Years later, in the Centenary Year for Cub Scouts, we continue to celebrate the stories of the Jungle. Akela 11/10/16 Tue Boomerang Test 6 - Symbols of Australia We have special symbols for our Country and State... we checked them out Raksha 18/10/16 Tue Baden Powell & the Jungle Baden Powell started off Cubs in 1916...As well as giving us the Jungle Book as a basis for Cubs, he did plenty of other cool things in his life - so we found out a bit about it and had plenty of fun! We stayed in the railway carriages and did tons of stuff... It was not to be missed! - 15/11/16 Tue Wide Games It's great when we can get out and play games with plenty of room... This one became a scavenger hunt Raksha 22/11/16 Tue 10th Cub Olympiad Los Angeles In 1932 the world turned to the 10th Olympiad in Los Angeles, USA. In 2016 WE'll be having our 10th Cub Olympiad to compete for the Gold Medals - the best Country on the night won... and all had fun! We even did a loop! Parents had to come and find us. - 7/12/16 Wed Group Christmas Breakup It was Rosanna Scout Group's 10th Christmas In our Centenary year of Cub Souts, we finished off with our Scouts, Venturers and Rovers to celebrate a great year and see someone special!   20/12/16 - 29/1/17   School Holidays Well, that was 2016 all done - After a Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year, we'll come back bright and early in 2017 on Tuesday, 7th Feb, 2017.
