Time to kick off the New Year with a fun night. Akela 9/2/10 Tue Local History (Part 1) This year we're doing the Local History special badge: - starting off with some history of Scouting and a walk! Chil 16/2/10 Tue Boomerang Test 8 - Fitness We got those bodies working - and saw how fit you are Rama 21/2/10 Sun Founders Day - Bike Hike Celebrating the 153rd Birthday of Baden-Powell, our founder. We rode from Heidelberg to Wilson Reserve in East Ivanhoe - had lunch and some fun! - 23/2/10 Tue BBQ & Yabbying We had 3 Investitures, a BBQ and then caught plenty of yabbies (Scouts came along too). Bagheera 24/2/10 Wed Seeonee Meeting of Banyule District Cub Leaders - 2/3/10 Tue Codes and Signals - Level 1 Just for something different, we made some signals, did some codes and earned a badge! Chil 9/3/10 Tue Joint night at Diamond Valley Cubs We were off to have some fun with Diamond Valley Cubs in Watsonia - with Billy Carts, Bush Skateboards and games. Akela 13-14/3/10 Sat-Sun Gold Camp! Older Cubs had TONS of fun, learning how to earn the Grey Wolf Award, earning a Bushcraft Badge and experiencing some Scout stuff - click on the link to find out more - Rosanna joined with Cubs and Leaders from 1st Bendigo, 1st Keilor Village, 5th Footscray, 1st Taylors Lakes, 1st Eltham (Gellibrand) and Kariwara District Akela 16/3/10 Tue Boomerang Test 4 - Outdoor Scouting - Fires and Cooking Time for some tucker... but we had to cook it first - on a campfire! Bagheera 23/3/10 Tue Under the Ocean Tonight we explored the sea! We dressed up as anything that you'd find in or on the sea - and we dived in and had tons of fun Akela 28/3/10 Sun Banyule Festival "Arty Farty Fest" Grand Parade Our Cubs marched in the Street Parade and then joined in the festival at Sills Bend. - 27/3/10 - 11/4/10   School Holidays There you go... quarter of the year gone already! Chil 21/4/10 Wed Heritage Night Greensborough RSL We joined with the Scouts and learned about our Service men and women Akela 25/4/10 Sun Anzac Day We attended the Dawn Service (those who could get up that early!), then joined in the Anzac Day March in Greensborough - 27/4/10 Tue Scouts in Action Week First Aid The first ever "Scouts in Action Week" had Scout members Australia wide doing first aid and earning badges Akela 28/4/10 Wed Seeonee Meeting of Banyule District Cub Leaders - at Montmorency - 4/5/10 Tue Father and Cub Night Mothers Day Mothers Day was coming up. We got the Dads in for some fun and to do something for Mum Bagheera 11/5/10 Tue Test 12 - Self Expression A chance to see how good the Cubs are at expressing themselves. Lots of fun trying. Chil 18/5/10 Tue Test 1 - Health and First Aid Time to add a few bits of First Aid from our Scouts in Action week and be healthy! Rama 25/5/10 Tue Scout Heritage Centre Local History (Part 2) For the second part of our Local History Badge we visited the Scout Heritage Centre in South Yarra Akela 30/5/10 Sun Seeonee Meeting of Banyule District Cub Leaders - at Bundoora - 1/6/10 Tue Test 2 - Safety Can Cubs look after themselves? They need Mum and Dad for quite a while yet, but we helped learn some stuff to stay safe! Rama 5-6/6/10 Sat-Sun First Aid Camp A chance for older Cubs to learn and earn their Level 2 First Aid Badge - 8/6/10 Tue Test 5 - Our Cub Scout Traditions With a Jungle night soon..... what's the Jungle Book all about? - And who started this Scouts thing anyway? Bagheera / Chil 15/6/10 Tue Rosanna Library We walked to the Library to learn a bit and work on our Literature and Lester Literate Badges You need to read quite a few books too, so check out the badge requirements and start reading! Akela 22/6/10 Tue Jungle We entered the deepest, darkest JUNGLE of India - a place of wolves, bears, panthers, pythons, elephants, tigers, monkeys... and a little boy.
