Cubs started off with a Games night to kick the year off. Raksha 11/2/18 Sun Try Sailing - Pirates! Sandringham Our Pirates caught two trains to get to Sandringham and then had a fantastic time sailing, canoeing and on boards. Great fun. - 13/2/18 Tue Yabbies / BBQ Binnak Park, Watsonia North We started off with a BBQ, presented some white scarves, and then into the yabbying! Only a couple of yabbies caught, but plenty of tiny fish! Raksha 20/2/18 Tue Boomerang Test 8 - Fitness We tested how fit our Cubs are! Kaa 25/2/18 Sun Founders Day Bike Hike Templestowe-Eaglemont Founders Day is to celebrate the Birthday of the Founder of Scouting, Baden Powell. We got into it with a Bike Hike from Finns Reserve to Eaglemonth Scout Hall - 27/2/18 Tue Boomerang Test 4 - Outdoor Scouting - Fires and Cooking We went to Eaglemont and got into cooking on open fires - and then eat our food! Rowallan Scout Camp, Riddells Creek Older Cubs by invitation - Fun, with cooking, learning how to earn the Grey Wolf, Hiking, trying some Scout stuff and earning the Bushcraft Level 2 Badge - Rosanna joined up with Cubs and Leaders from other Cub Packs from around Victoria for a huge weekend. Akela 20/3/18 Tue Knights of the Round Table We went back in time to the time of the Medieval Knights of the Round Table. Cubs dressed up and came back to Olde England! Akela 27/3/18 Tue Swimming Night Watermarc, Greensborough We were off to Watermarc! Our swimming badge night will be in 3rd term... this night was just for FUN! So, we needed to learn a little bit about looking after ourselves and others. Bagheera 25/4/18 Wed Anzac Day To commemorate Anzac Day, we were at Greensborough for the Anzac Day March and Ceremony - 1/5/18 Tue Local History Night 1 Every so often we do one of the Special Badges. In Local History we learned a bit about the area around us. Rikki 8/5/18 Tue Father and Cub Night Dads (or Grandpa, Uncle etc.) were asked to come along to help us get ready for Mothers Day and to have plenty of fun as well! Raksha 11/5/18 Fri Pack Council We got our Sixers (and Seconds) together to talk about how we're running our Pack AND to plan our joint night with Bundoora - run by the Cubs! Akela 15/5/18 Tue Local History Night 2 Two weeks after Night 1 on Local History, it was time to do some more to finish off the badge. Cubs learned some First Aid that might help them save someone's life one day... and had some fun along the way AND and earned the First Aid Level 2 Badge. It was time to find out Kaa 5/6/18 Tue Boomerang Test 2 - Safety How do you stay safe around home, swimming and out in the bush? We want to have fun, but we don't want to get hurt doing it! Kaa 12/6/18 Tue Jungle Rudyard Kipling wrote The Jungle Book 124 years ago, when Akela was only a boy! Over the years it's always captured people's imagination. We went into the deep, dark Jungle and had FUN! Akela 19/6/18 Tue Heritage Night As part of earning the "Their Service, Our Heritage" Badge we had a Vietnam Veteran come to talk to us about the service that's been done for us. Akela 23-24/6/18 Sat-Sun Gang Show, BBQ and Cub Sleepover Rosanna Scout Group and family members went to Gang Show 2018, followed by a family BBQ with 1st Bendigo Cubs too and then a Cubs-only Sleepover at the Hall. Great fun! - 26/6/18 Tue Joint night with Bundoora Cubs We had a night at our Hall with a visit by Bundoora Cubs - Run by our Sixers! Google Maps doesn't work when you're out of range or your battery is flat! What about leaving or following a trail? Kaa 16-18/11/18 Fri-Sun Pack Holiday & Group Camp Pax Hill Scout Camp - Ballarat Bushrangers We got our Bushrangers' gear together and headed off to Ballarat for a weekend of huge fun, with tons of stuff to keep Cubs busy all weekend, including battling the Law (Scouts) in the flour fight (Cubs always win!)! - 20/11/18 Tue XIV Cub Olympiad London We jumped a few Olympiads because there never was a twelfth or thirteenth Olympics (World War II) - so now we were up to 1948 in London - but their Olympics were never like ours! Time to have a wonderful Christmas, a Happy New Year and come back early in 2019 on Tuesday, 5th Feb, 2019.
