Level 1
Complete all of one section.
Instrumental
1. Show an ability to play a musical instrument and keep a record of your practices for one month.
2. Perform two different pieces on your instrument, either solo or in a group.
3. Show how to clean and look after your instrument.
4. Draw a staff, clef, note, sharp, flat, rest, and explain their use.
Singing
1. Learn and sing the first and third verses of the National Anthem.
2. Learn and sing three verses of a traditional or folk song.
3. Learn and sing three Scouting campfire songs.
 
Level 2
Complete all of one section.
Instrumental
1. Learn an instrument for a period of 12 months.
2. Play three different scales or arpeggios on your instrument.
3. Show an understanding of the notes on the clef for your instrument. Understand the different types of notes and their values and the rests, which correspond to them.
4. Perform three different pieces on your instrument for an audience.
5. Show how to clean and look after your instrument.
6. Find out about a composer who has written pieces for your instrument. Listen to one piece and discuss what you liked about it.
Singing
1. Understand the difference between bass, tenor, alto and soprano voices.
2. Be able to sing back a short piece of music played to you. This should be no longer than four bars in 4/4 time.
3. Learn and sing three songs of your choice.
4. Perform as a soloist or as part of a choir in front of an audience.
5. Explain notes, rests, signs and terms of one piece you have sung.
6. Choose three different styles of songs and talk about the differences between them.
